Academics

Students who attend FDNY High School are provided with the opportunities and supports they need and require to be successful both while in our school and after they leave our halls. Their academic courses are scheduled to meet the graduation requirements set by the NYC DOE. What sets FDNY High School apart is our commitment to our students career readiness. We currently offer two specialized academic tracks to prepare students for future careers in competitive industries.

EMS

The EMS academic track is developed in conjunction with the FDNY. It prepares our students for a challenging and fulfilling career as FDNY EMT’s. Students engage in a three- year sequence of instruction, with additional learning opportunities offered through the FDNY. At the culmination of their instruction, students are prepared for EMT certification and their futures.

Computer Science

The Computer Science (CS) academic track is developed in conjunction with the New York City CS4All initiative. It prepares our students for challenging and fulfilling careers in a variety of industries. Students engage in a three- year sequence of instruction presented through curriculum offered by CS4All. Each course in the sequence builds their core knowledge of CS. The capstone course, CS & the City, provides student with an opportunity to engage with civic issues in their communities by building a computational artifact with New York City Open Data.
